#PTStar for January – Robert

Robert came to physical therapy for treatment of his left arm. He had been experiencing some pain in the shoulder while playing golf or while lifting objects, especially overhead. He reports that one day in October he was flipping his mattress at home. He then had increased pain in the shoulder, which continued and that is why he came to Jersey PT.

Condition:

Robert had sustained a torn biceps tendon on the day he flipped his mattress. Robert attended 15 visits from December 1, 2016 and was discharged Wednesday January 25, 2017 with a complete home exercise program and will be able to return to his normal life.

Motivation:

Robert’s short term motivation was to be able to sleep through the night without pain, to be able to reach overhead, carry objects in the arm, and to be able to perform everyday activities pain free. His long term motivation is to be able to play go with no difficulty.

Improvements:

Since beginning physical therapy, Robert no longer has shoulder or arm pain, he is sleeping through the night, he is lifting objects overhead, and has resumed all daily activities with no difficulty. Robert had resumed these activities for the past 3 weeks and has had no set backs. He has continued in physical therapy to help achieve his long term goal of returning to golf. On January 24th he will be discharged from PT with a comprehensive home exercise program to maintain his well being and help with his golf game. He has been cleared to return to golf(weather permitting).

Quote:

“After snapping my bicep tendon on my left arm, I met with PT Geoff Hunt at Jersey PT. He completely explained what was necessary for me for a full recovery and the time required. My recovery program with the assistance of their entire staff has been outstanding. My arm is feeling great and I am ready for spring golf.” – Robert
