While it may not be common knowledge, physical therapy plays a vital role in the treatment and recovery of cancer – from post-surgery rehabilitation and the maintenance of stamina during chemotherapy treatments, to simply providing a person with a sense of empowerment and control over their bodies as they battle the disease.
The team at Jersey Physical Therapy has witnessed these benefits firsthand while working with cancer patients through the years, including the rehabilitation of younger cancer sufferers. Such experiences have moved the clinic to become consistent supporters of Hugs for Brady, a Kendall Park-based nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children with childhood cancers “in any way possible.”
On Saturday, May 16, Hugs for Brady will strive to further its mission through its 5th Annual Twilight 5K and Kids Fun Run, with all proceeds going toward helping kids (and their families) who are battling cancer. As an annual sponsor of the late-afternoon/evening event, Jersey Physical Therapy will host a cooling-down station to assist runners after the race.
