When Princeton HealthCare System began developing its new medical center in Plainsboro, the organization decided to attach a 146,000-square-foot building next door to the hospital, dedicated to medical office space.
Medical staff, patients and visitors would travel through a concourse from doctor’s offices to the hospital and back without ever having to go outside.
According to Princeton HealthCare System President and CEO Barry Rabner, the 630,000-square-foot University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro opened in May 2012 and the office space filled almost immediately.
And even before the new hospital opened, new off-site medical office space also had begun appearing in the area.
“It’s been interesting to me because not only have new buildings popped up, but other office buildings have started to advertise medical office space,” Rabner said.
